Earlier this year, New Albany and the Central Ohio community lost a very dear friend. John G. McCoy passed away after a remarkable life as an innovator in the banking industry, as a philanthropist who helped create a “culture of giving” in Central Ohio and as a beloved husband and father.
How the New Albany Community Foundation Can Help You Achieve Your Philanthropic Goals
If you are considering supporting a community cause or if you are considering establishing a fund through the New Albany Community Foundation, the following is a summary designed to help you as you consider options.
From modest giving to large gifts, community foundations exist to meet your objectives and can customize a family, company or organizational fund of lasting value and impact. Grants made from each field of interest fund may be given in the fund’s name to nonprofit organizations and initiatives in the New Albany community. As a component fund of The Columbus Foundation, the New Albany Community Foundation is uniquely positioned to provide expertise and to assist you in achieving your charitable goals.
The New Albany Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity. The Foundation is supported through three primary sources of revenue. Its annual benefit, called “A Remarkable Evening,” is hosted and underwritten by the New Albany Signature Series through a gift from the Wexner family and The New Albany Company. As such, all proceeds from Remarkable Evening benefit the programs and operations of the foundation. The Foundation also participates in a collaborative fundraising effort with the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts. Again, all sponsorship gifts to the collaborative fundraising are split evenly between the foundation and the McCoy Center. With any other gifts to the Foundation, such as planned gifts or gifts toward endowments, 99 cents of every dollar are directed to the endowments and subsequently to community not-for-profit organizations. This is possible because the Foundation only charges a 1% fee for its services on funds held at the New Albany Community Foundation.
Our purpose is to serve a wide range of donors concerned about quality of life issues. The Foundation is fortunate to have many generous individuals, organizations and companies who contribute each year to enrich lives and meet the needs and aspirations of the community.
We welcome you to contact the Foundation at 614-939-8150 for more details in understanding the process.
