The facility is being designed by Cleveland architectural firm, Westlake, Reed & Leskowsky. WRL is recognized nationally for its expertise in designing theatres and auditoriums. The facility will be 35,000 square feet, with a 750-seat auditorium (balcony included), a partial fly loft, lobby, classrooms, black box rehearsal studio, dance studio and scene shop.
The stakeholder groups entered into a “Joint Facility Agreement” which outlines how the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts will be owned and maintained. Ownership of the land will be deeded from The New Albany Company to the New Albany-Plain Local School District. Ownership of the facility will be shared by the School District, Village of New Albany and Plain Township. The facility will be maintained like the other school buildings.
